AUTHOR
This book is not a prediction.
It does not assert that civil war is inevitable, imminent, or desired.
It is an examination of conditions.
Throughout history, internal conflict has not emerged from ideology alone, nor from a single triggering event. It arises when pressures accumulate across institutions, information systems, economies, and social trust—until the mechanisms designed to absorb strain begin to fail. In every society where large-scale internal conflict has occurred, these precursor conditions were visible long before violence became undeniable.
This work studies those precursors.
Using historical comparison, documented case studies, and publicly available data, the book examines how modern societies fragment, how authority erodes, how legitimacy is contested, and how accelerating feedback loops narrow the range of peaceful outcomes. The focus is not on assigning blame, advocating reform, or forecasting timelines, but on recognizing patterns that have repeated across nations, cultures, and eras.
The United States is not treated as exceptional in this analysis.
No society is immune to structural stress. No political system is exempt from failure modes. The assumption that modern institutions will always self-correct has not been supported by history. Understanding this is not pessimism; it is realism.
This book does not argue that conflict must occur. It argues that ignoring conditions because they are uncomfortable does not make them disappear. Prevention requires recognition. Recognition requires clarity. Clarity requires a willingness to examine evidence without ideological filters.
